Amazon Scam Breakdown : The Bait And Switch for False Reviews

K

I was doing some window shopping this morning while waiting for some code to build on my computer and a item that Amazon recommended to me quickly caught my eye. It is clearly a fake 2 TB USB Flash Drive which is unremarkable as I have seen countless fakes and even wrote about it back in 2018, the thing that caught my eye on the listing is that the flash drive had over 360 reviews with a 4.5 star average review. How could this be??? Is there actually a legitimate way to get 2 TB of real flash storage for under $100 or is there something fishy going on? Oh yes, its definitely rotten fish. I stumbled into a bit of a rabbit hole this morning while doing some research on how this scam works.

Deal Alert : Core i5 128 GB Pixel Slate + Type Cover Prime Day Deal

K

If you are in the market for a high end Chromebook and an Amazon Prime Customer – They are running a Prime Day Special on the Google Pixel Slate. This is the higher end version complete with an Intel Core i5, 128 GB of Space and 8 GB of RAM. This version of the Pixel Slate is normally $1000 alone however Amazon is selling it for $899.99 for Prime Day. To sweeten the deal, Amazon is also throwing in the official Type Cover for free which would normally add another $200 to the price. Sadly if you need the Pixel Stylus, you will need to obtain that separately

A Warning to Galaxy Note 9 Owners : Beware of Fake MicroSD Cards

K

Technically the warning here applies to all phones regardless of manufacturer but I am picking on Samsung specifically as they made it a huge point to say that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 can be extended to 1 TB of space with the purchase of a 512 GB Micro SD Card… the problem however is that they did not mention the fact that 512 GB Micro SD cards are expensive and sites like Amazon/eBay/etc are full of scam artists that are chomping at the bit to sell their fake MicroSD cards to unsuspecting value hunters.

Warning: Amazon has a Massive Problem with Fake MicroSD Cards

K

I was browsing Amazon.com the other day as I was looking for a new 200 GB MicroSD Card for a upcoming review. I was shocked to see that Amazon’s listing was flooded with fraudulent MicroSD Cards. I thought that Amazon did a much better job then other sites such as Wish.com does. I guess I was wrong. Buying fake MicroSD cards is dangerous as it can result in data loss or worse.

Reasons why the Amazon Fire Phone Failed

K

On July 25th of 2014, Amazon took a major leap of faith with their entry into the mobile phone market with the Amazon Fire Phone. This was an Android Phone that was completely devoid of Google’s Application Ecosystem. This AT&T exclusive phone was released and failed to sway users away from existing ecosystems into the new Amazon ecosystem. Despite everything Amazon tried including aggressive price cuts, bundling a year of Amazon Prime, Firesales and unlocking the phone – it still failed to sell. This post will take a close look at the Amazon Fire Phone to try to understand the reason for its failure.
