Of course it is still a work in progress as it is missing a lot of features one would expect in a high end routerOriginally shared by Ben SchoonSomeone please tell me not to buy this…. Please….

jkAlex Minnucci – 2016-04-04 05:57:41-0400+Keith I Myers why do you like it? I have no need for one, so I’m just curious. Maybe it will suite one of my clientsAdam Outler – 2016-04-04 07:30:37-0400 – Updated: 2016-04-04 07:31:04-0400This is less than 1/2 the price of a high-end home router.

I’m waiting for Google I/O to decide if they are going actually make things happen with this or if it’s just a bunch of fluff.Keith I Myers – 2016-04-04 08:30:20-0400*NOTE – I do not have the Asus Router but the TPLink OnHub Router.

+Alex Minnucci – That is a good question. I am normally one who is guilty of over-engineering things but I decided to make some major changes this year and simplify some things. It does not get much simpler then the OnHub. Setup was almost too easy and it just works. My favorite feature by far is the WiFi range/quality – it puts many more expensive routers to shame. The router is also very future proof as it is loaded with hardware that is not even in use yet and will likely be activated in the future.

However to piggy back on what +Adam Outler said. The OnHub router is currently sitting in a perpetual “half-baked” state and I too want to see if Google steps up and ads some new features to help justify the cost. As Google seems to be on a mass-killing spree lately there is a remote chance that the OnHub Router may not get the TLC it deserves. One example of this is the USB 3.0 port on the OnHub router – it currently does not do anything. Adam Outler – 2016-04-04 08:44:56-0400Apparently it has a mic, speaker, and a robust processor which isn’t being used for much of anything as well. It could be an awesome device…. Or not Keith I Myers – 2016-04-04 08:46:12-0400+Adam Outler – as far as I know, there is no Mic. If there was, it could be used as a pretty cool extension of Google NowLaurie DesAutels – 2016-04-04 12:04:59-0400+Keith I Myers I ended up buying the Netgear NightHawk vs the OnHub. It was just released when we moved… Work in progress? So wait?Laurie DesAutels – 2016-04-04 12:06:04-0400I’m thinking I/O will announce something like Alexa to work with it or major improvements.
