Amazon.com: Seagate Archive 8 TB Internal Hard Drive: Computers & Accessories
Shared with: Public, Lauren Weinstein+1’d by: Joseph Cappellino, Chris Pugrud, Peter TeohLauren Weinstein – 2016-02-10 11:21:01-0500Keep in mind that’s almost certainly a shingled drive. Performance is limited in ways that make it impractical for other than archive use in most cases.Peter Teoh – 2016-02-10 11:23:04-0500Also, it’s a Seagate. Keith I Myers – 2016-02-10 11:23:39-0500+Lauren Weinstein – Yes – the drive is being marketed as a drive for “Archival Purposes”. I am going to be rebuilding my home NAS in a few weeks and in this case capacity and reliability trumps performance. I would not use this as the primary drive on a workstation or for anything else that uses a lot of I/O.Chris Pugrud – 2016-02-10 18:32:55-0500Perfect for archiving my old photo and video files. Everything active is on SSD, but this is much better than the external drives I’m using for offline storage.
