I know I over-engineered my solution. I finally got SSL setup and will be working on real-time replication between the cloud instance and my home NAS to ensure I always have access to my data, even when offline. I have over 3.4 TB of storage on my new Cloud Storage Infrastructure and 8 TB on my home NAS.
I am taking security very seriously and am taking some extreme measures to harden and protect the parts that are externally facing. SSLLabs gabe me an A+
