No damage to my truck but her car will need a bit of work as the connector for my trailer hitch made a pretty nice dent on her front bumper. No injuries and I had my dash cam running the whole ride to work so everything is taped.
The biggest issue is I had to honk my horn at the same driver about 2 minutes before she hit me as she almost merged into the side of my truck a few blocks up. I quickly passed her and she merged into the same lane behind me a few seconds before the accident.
When we pulled to the side of the road, she explained that her kids were driving her nuts bu asking for money for school. She had 2 kids in the back seat so that was believable.
I did lay into her a bit after making sure that everyone was unhurt to explain that she needs to be able to tune her kids out and pay attention to the road or she stands a chance of being more stressed out with hospital/funeral expenses had this been a more serious accident.
I saw no need to take it past that. She has a minor repair bill for her car and aside from loosing 5 minutes from my commute, I saw no need to pursue the matter further. We exchanged information, I took a few photos and we were on our way.

Not sure if this is a mom thing. My wife is the same way, she’ll keep trying to calm down the kids and seems very distracted while driving when they’re acting up in the back.. Keith I Myers – 2015-11-02 09:01:32-0500+Shazafar Khaja – I will assume it is a mom thing as well. I dont have any kids to speak for but when I drive my 2 and 4 year old nephews around in my car, I find it hard to tune them out at times. Master Decker – 2015-11-02 09:07:48-0500Nicely handled. David Wille – 2015-11-02 11:22:54-0500Good on you mate. That was smart to take pictures too..
I was in a fender bender very similar, being rear ended just the same. I didn’t take photos however, and three weeks later I received a phone call from the guys insurance, claiming I had cut the person off on the highway and he slammed the back of vehicle, cusing his front end to be totaled.
I turned out being lucky, as I had 3 people with me in the car. Whom I had to name and list contact info for their attorney’s to speak with so I wouldn’t be pursued further!!
Don’t know what ended up happening, but I never heard from them again..and I sure it was because of my 3 witnesses able to back me up. Had I been alone however, and having not taken pictures like your situation here Keith, I’d be singing a different time of the matter… That’s for sure !Keith I Myers – 2015-11-02 11:26:07-0500+David Wille – After seeing some of the crazy drivers in South Florida, I started mounting my Nvidia Shield Tablet on my dashboard to use as a dash-cam while driving. If she does try anything, I can show that I made no lane changes and was stopped at the light for at least 30 seconds before being hit (with another car in front of me).
