I’ve not received any information about mine as yet only the confirmation email. Keith I Myers – 2015-08-21 15:29:39-0400+Hugh McVea – Yes, I got the Shipping Notice last Friday with the replacement on Monday. I just got the return kit in the mail this afternoonKeith I Myers – 2015-08-21 15:33:18-0400+Hugh McVea – I wonder if your location is the reason for the delay. I am thinking they may have a different distribution center handling your location. Lucas Dummitt – 2015-08-21 15:33:20-0400″This body is but a shell!” ~ +Keith I Myers’ Nvidia ShieldHugh McVea – 2015-08-21 15:35:23-0400+Keith I Myers more than likely, I’m in the UK, Northern Ireland to precise.
I must say I’ve never noticed the slightest bit of heat whilst mine has been charging. Keith I Myers – 2015-08-21 15:35:30-0400+Lucas Dummitt – I just felt bad harvesting the Stylus as part of a organ donation program. I have not lost it yet but if the day comesJervice O. Francis – 2015-08-21 16:17:17-0400So we lose the sim micro SD card slotJervice O. Francis – 2015-08-21 16:17:35-0400That’s some bsKeith I Myers – 2015-08-21 16:19:26-0400 – Updated: 2015-08-21 16:20:08-0400+Jervice Francis – No, not at all, It is identical to the current version except with a battery that is likely not to explode. The SIM card/SD Card has been removed and placed into the replacement. If you have a WiFi only tablet, your replacement will be WiFi only and if you have a LTE version, it will be replaced with the LTE version.
In fact, Nvidia lets you keep the extra power brick and USB cable as they do not instruct you to return thoseClayton Rego – 2015-08-21 16:22:03-0400 – Updated: 2015-08-21 16:22:17-0400I’m waiting for the GTX 950 it will be my big purchase…Keith I Myers – 2015-08-21 16:22:32-0400+Clayton Rego – 950?Clayton Rego – 2015-08-21 16:24:02-0400+Keith I Myers graphics card…Keith I Myers – 2015-08-21 16:26:12-0400Ahh +Clayton Rego – I dont follow graphic cards as much as I should be. Working on a 7 year old graphics card on my main desktop (with everything else much newer) Clayton Rego – 2015-08-21 16:32:28-0400 – Updated: 2015-08-21 16:32:41-0400+Keith I Myers ah, well I’m going to get it and keep my old one for a homemade linux box…William Clift – 2015-08-21 16:33:49-0400+Hugh McVea, yeah I’m in the UK in England and haven’t received mine yet either. Not the only one then, hopefully the returning the defected one is a voluntary return as some people have posted Hugh McVea – 2015-08-21 16:35:34-0400 – Updated: 2015-08-21 16:36:19-0400+HLC-Aceclift yes indeed I hope it’s not too much longer, it has made me cautious of the defective unit. I’ve been using my Nexus 9 instead but I detest the 4:3 aspect ratio of the screen. William Clift – 2015-08-21 16:39:30-0400+Hugh McVea, yeah I hope out won’t be as well. Yeah I hate 4:3 ratios as well. Keith I Myers – 2015-08-21 16:39:37-0400+Hugh McVea – We are too much alike in that regard. I did the same but it is the performance of the Nexus 9 that makes me keep it in my backpack as a spare instead of my daily driverShaun Collorick – 2015-08-21 16:42:52-0400+HLC-Aceclift I’m expecting the US customers will be the first to get replacement, then down to other markets… So looking at a longish wait. I’m from England too and have 3 tablets (my son’s, daughter’s and my own tablet) all to be replacedWilliam Clift – 2015-08-21 16:44:51-0400+Shaun Collorick, very true. All the good tech companies seem to be in the US now and 3 tablets must be a pain. But at least despite all the money Nvidia is losing they still do the recall completely free of charge Luke et – 2015-08-21 16:51:44-0400+HLC-Aceclift same mate wanna try and keep the old one running😂😂😂Russell Baker – 2015-08-21 16:57:21-0400I’m in the UK also and no mention of anything since my initial registration for the recall, looking on the official Nvidia forums it does look like they are doing them based on country and within a country on the date that you registered for the recall. As I was away at the time the recall notice came out and didn’t spot it for a few days after I came back I’m putting it down to that, well for now..Hugh McVea – 2015-08-21 17:05:09-0400+Keith I Myers my Nexus 9 flies but it’s that horrible obsolete screen ratio I hate. walter conley – 2015-08-21 17:13:53-0400what successor?Keith I Myers – 2015-08-21 17:14:36-0400+walter conley – The replacement shield that they sent. Same product but a different batteryLuke et – 2015-08-21 17:14:45-0400+walter conley do you not know what successor means or are you unaware of the recall?walter conley – 2015-08-21 17:18:33-0400Yes, I know what the word means and about the recall. Usu. when people use the word ‘successor’, esp. when it comes to technology, they are referring to a newer product (ie. the Samsung Note 5 is the successor of the Note 4). My question, then, was whether or not there was concrete word of a “Shield Tablet 2′, though your response indicates that you’re waiting for another tablet of the same make and model.
Next time, please just answer the question; it’d make you look like less of a smartass. Thank you.Duane Brown – 2015-08-21 18:58:23-0400Do you have to send back shield or do u get to keep it? Keith I Myers – 2015-08-21 18:59:37-0400+Duane Brown – This is the box to send the old one back. I assume the IMEI will be blacklisted if not returned. Duane Brown – 2015-08-21 19:00:06-0400Damn. Wanted to keep itDuane Brown – 2015-08-21 19:00:37-0400We should b able to since its there balls upKeith I Myers – 2015-08-21 19:05:04-0400+Duane Brown – Nvidia will likely replace the battery and re-sell them as refurbs. In the US, Federal Product Safety laws require Nvidia to collect them to properly dispose/repair them. As the return process is quite expensive, it is possible that they may provide “disposal” instructions in areas where laws are a bit lax. As this recall was due to safety concerns, I would not advise anyone keep it. EejitInEspana – 2015-08-21 19:13:13-0400I’m in Spain and the info I received was that when my new shield arrives my old one will be deactivated automatically, even if I didn’t return my old unit nvidia can’t be sure it didn’t get lost in transit.Shaun Collorick – 2015-08-21 19:18:48-0400+Russell Baker I applied a few hours after they announced it, had my confirmation email… Now waiting… Anyone in uk had a replacement yet?
