20141114 I Have Come Across A Strange Issue When

Keith I MyersKeith I Myers2014-11-14 00:20:21-0500 – Updated: 2014-11-14 00:20:21-0500I have come across a strange issue when manually updating my Nexus 9 with the Android Factory Images.

sending ‘system’ (1771468 KB)…
FAILED (remote: data length is too large)

This essentially soft bricked my Nexus 9 and made it so it would never bypass the initial “Google” screen.  After playing with a few things for an hour, The solution turns out to be quite simple.

1 – Extract the “image-volantis-lrx21q.zip” and navigate to the directory in a terminal/cmd prompt
2 – Make sure your tablet is at the Fastboot screen and connected via USB to your computer.
3 – Run “fastboot oem rebootRUU” (MacOS and Linux users may need to use “sudo”). If successful, you will see a HTC screen
4 – Type “fastboot flash system system.img” (MacOS and Linux users may need to use “sudo”)
5) Type “fastboot reboot” (MacOS and Linux users may need to use “sudo”) to reboot your tablet.
