20141016 +Google Glass  I Got The Update To XE2

Keith I MyersKeith I Myers2014-10-16 09:52:57-0400 – Updated: 2014-10-16 09:52:57-0400+Google Glass – I got the update to XE22 this morning and was a bit disappointed to see this message. It appears that your cannot use Glass and Android Wear at the same time if you wish to have notifications sent to Glass.

This is a problem for 2 reasons
– It cuts off all connectivity to my LG G Watch when enabeled. It is not just no notifications but I also cannot access any other function on the watch that is dependant on a connection to my phone (Music controls/Google Now Cards/Keep/Notes/etc). It essentially is like disabling Bluetooth.
-I love to wear Glass but there are times that I dont, such as in a closed door meeting. I still love having notifications on my watch. The process to toggle between devices is a bit convoluted. +Google Glass - I got the update to XE22 this morning and was a bit disappointed to see this message. My Moto360 has already made Glass seem somewhat redundant, especially since it is more socially acceptable in public as well as at my work. I really hope that this is corrected soon or I may end up selling my Glass to someone who would get more use out of it.Kurt Nelson – 2014-10-16 10:40:10-0400Don’t worry- the Wear SDK was clearly designed with multidevice support in mind. They just haven’t finished yet. The same thing occurs if you have two watches.Joseph Perrin – 2014-10-16 10:43:31-0400+Kurt Nelson true, I just hope that it is fixed soon. Most people won’t try to wear 2 watches but there are many of us Explorers with watches and would like to wear them together.Joseph Cappellino – 2014-10-16 11:53:07-0400And, to make it worse, now I that enabled notifications on +Google Glass, I can’t re-enable them on my Moto360.  I just get the slashed cloud.  :-/

Any suggestions?Joseph Perrin – 2014-10-16 11:56:27-0400I believe that you have to disable notifications on glass and then reconnect the moto 360Joseph Cappellino – 2014-10-16 11:59:51-0400I’ve tried everything.  None of it seems to be working.Keith I Myers – 2014-10-16 12:04:25-0400+Joseph Cappellino – Do this
1) Launch MyGlass and select “Settings”
2) Select “Notification Sync”
3) Select the menu and select “Turn off notification sync”
4) Launch Android Wear
5) Press the “Menu” and “Pair with a new wearable”Joseph Perrin – 2014-10-16 12:05:52-0400+Joseph Cappellino Agreed. I just did the same as +Keith I Myers and all works fine.

However, this is far from the most user friendly way of doing this.Joseph Cappellino – 2014-10-16 12:16:52-0400Thanks, +Keith I Myers and +Joseph Perrin.  I took it a step further.  I factory reset the watch.  All seems to be back to normal.rick sare almost daily vlog – 2014-10-16 12:58:11-0400First world problemVito Vizziato – 2014-10-16 12:59:20-0400Hopefully this gets resolved sooner then later so that people don’t start having issues etcSean-Franc Strang – 2014-10-16 13:36:24-0400Who’d have thought we’d have more than one wear device on at once? David Zack – 2014-10-16 14:12:33-0400Boo-hiss, this sucks. I was really looking forward to this update, but now it doesn’t matter – don’t want to kill my Moto360 to get notifications on my Glass. 🙁Daniel Shokouhi – 2014-10-16 14:48:00-0400+Google Glass is this for reals? I can’t have both of my devices functioning together? How soon do you plan on correcting this?  Danny Silvester – 2014-10-16 15:32:53-0400Wow. I was looking forward to this Glass update but if it means losing notifications on my Moto 360. I’m not so keen…. 🙁Jason Salas – 2014-10-16 19:26:52-0400+Joseph Cappellino  I ran into this issue this morning, too…I noticed that the Android Wear mobile app was trying to pair with my Glass device, so I re-set it to reconnect with my watch.Wai H – 2014-10-16 20:13:30-0400can’t have our cake and eat it too😱Vito Vizziato – 2014-10-16 23:23:09-0400Hopefully there’s a workaround for this and it’s an easy software fix cause that sucksGoogle Glass – 2014-10-16 23:31:09-0400+Keith I Myers Thanks for the feedback. We’re looking into it. This one is actually a bit complicated so it will probably take at least a few months.Vito Vizziato – 2014-10-16 23:44:18-0400+Google Glass I’m glad you’re at least looking into it and replied to us about this matter because it’s really important. To have to choose or be presented with an issue like such causes complicationKeith I Myers – 2014-10-16 23:45:13-0400+Google Glass thanks for your diligence Vito Vizziato – 2014-10-17 02:04:05-0400+Keith I Myers So I just installed the latest Glass software XE22, do you recommend that I turn on notifications or not to with the issue at hand? And if I were to do so is it easy to revert so that I can once again get my notifications on my #Moto360Keith I Myers – 2014-10-17 07:59:35-0400+Vito Vizziato yesJoseph Perrin – 2014-10-17 21:37:56-0400+Vito Vizziato just follow the guidelines above on how to switch back. It’s not difficult, just not convenient or user friendly.Vito Vizziato – 2014-10-17 22:02:21-0400 – Updated: 2014-10-17 22:02:53-0400Thanks guys appreciate it!! You’re right, does seem like a pain in the ass!! Vito Vizziato – 2014-10-19 00:42:54-0400I wouldn’t say so much more because clearly Glass can do a lot more then Android Wear. So it’s the other way around. But they’re both differentMitchell Rhodes – 2014-10-19 14:04:43-0400I had posted this on the glass forum’s feature request page two days ago.
