20130707 So… I Have Been Working On A Few Glas

I still need to figure out the Bundling of cards before it is ready to go live. As it stands, the application does;
1)  Checks the National Hurricane Center and Weather Undergrounds API and monitors for any tropical activity
2) Analyzes all the results on the server (virtual meteorologist) to try to determine if the 2 data sources actually show accurate data or false alerts
3) Creates a “weather report” script and map cards. The weather report is read to the user in a way as to simulate a real news report. All content is dynamically generated with no human interaction needed.
4) Send alerts to Glass (Approximately every 6 hours)

The script is able to report on
-Hurrcanes
-Tropical Storms
-Tropical Depressions
-Areas of Potential Development

I am hoping to have a limited beta program for a few explorers that are located in places commonly impacted by storms. I need to figure out how to get the Mirror API Limit increased before I can open this up publicly.

I would like to build a Tornado version later this year as well.

This video shows exactly what a user would see. I took screenshots of the application running on my Glass with the MyGlass app and my Android Phone. These are the real deal and not mock-ups.  The voice you are hearing is the “weather report” I mentioned above. The wording needs some work but I am actually quite happy with the outcome. The map also shows Hurricane Erick. I will be adding the paths in there before launch.

Note : The video does use a synthesized voice using the exact same script Glass would read if you chose “Read Aloud”. I tried recording directly from glass and it was HORRIBLE.

Great work! 🙂Edgar Samuel – 2013-07-07 08:37:25-0400Great work! Keith I Myers – 2013-07-08 00:45:51-0400Just a FYI – I opened a small private beta to a group of Glass Explorers and have room for about 5 more people. In order to test, you need to have Glass and hopefully live in an area where hurricanes can hit. Feel free to direct message me if you want to try it.
