Rule #1 – Never give a geek free time or a week off of work, you never know what can happen. I took a week off (December 15th – December 19th) to some much needed work around the house. During my downtime, I decided to fire up a gedit document and come up with something creative, the end result was a simulation of Ubuntu GNOME running completely in a web browser. This HTML5 based simulation could will eventually allow users to experience Ubuntu GNOME (and possibly other operating systems) without the need to install it on their computer. This is especially useful for training new users.
This video shows roughly how the operating system will look and feel, it is almost impossible to tell but the entire simulation is running completely in a web browser.. I still have a lot of work I need to do to the operating system before it will be ready for its release. I am planning to release this under the GPL when complete so others can use it as the base of their own simulations… or even create a completely web based operating system.
If course, I have a demo of of the GNOME Shell Simulation that you can try out now. It is best to use the Google Chrome Web Browser and run it with a 1080p display.
All of the applications are simply screenshots in this version of the simulation, I am working to create ports of the basic applications packaged with most Gnome based distributions that will be (mostly) functional. Great work! Keep it up! Also, I was interested to ge my hands dirty with the source code. Is there a link to download the source of this wonderful simulation? I would love to get my hands on it. And, take for granted, I am already a fan of yours, by just looking at the demo video! Wow!

I have been a bit busier then normal over the past few months. I will try to push the code I have completed onto my GitHub account over the weekend. It is a bit rough around the edges but others are free to pull it apart and do what they wish with it.
